NURA is built by NuroNova Genix Co., a Delaware-registered company headquartered in Houston, Texas. We build one thing: a calm, watch-first companion for prayer and the day — an iPhone app that computes worship deterministically on your device, keeps your data with you, and asks for nothing in return.

Our mission

Many "Muslim apps" grew into advertising surfaces, account walls, and servers that quietly hold your location and your habits. We started NURA from the opposite premise: the things a Muslim reaches for every day — the next prayer, the direction of the Kaaba, the adhkar after Fajr — are small, exact, and personal. They deserve software that is correct by construction and private by architecture, not by promise.

The company brief fits in one line: a calm companion for prayer and the day. NURA answers "when is Maghrib," "which way do I face," "how long until iftar," and "what did I plan for today" — on the wrist, at a glance, without a login and without a signal.

Engineering philosophy

Three commitments shape every line of the app.

Deterministic where it matters

Prayer times are worship, so NURA computes them from astronomy and nothing else. The engine takes your exact coordinates, the date, and your chosen convention and derives each time from the sun's position — Julian day, then solar declination and the equation of time, then the hour angles for each prayer. There is no network call, no model, and no heuristic in that path: the same inputs always produce the same times. When the sun genuinely never reaches an angle (a polar day), the engine returns "unavailable" rather than inventing a plausible-looking time for someone's salah. It is the same engine that powers our 10,381-page reference site, nuraprayer.com.

Private by architecture

There is no NuroNova server for the core app. Your prayer settings, saved places, sleep estimate, health notes, contacts, tool data, and any saved key live on your device — because we do not run a backend to send them to. There is no account and no sign-in. The optional AI is bring-your-own-key: only when you enable it and paste your own OpenAI, Anthropic, or Together key does your message text go, directly from your phone under your own provider account, to the provider you chose. NURA never proxies, sees, or stores it.

Honest about limits

The health tools are an organizer, explicitly never a doctor: a dangerous reading is flagged and routed to a professional, never diagnosed. The presence engine is "an observer of the phone, never a witness to the person" — it says "your phone was still overnight, so it looks like you slept," never "you slept eight hours." Precision and hedging are built in, not disclaimers bolted on afterward.

The innovation

NURA's contribution is an architecture, not a gimmick: deterministic engines that the optional AI reads as tools. The prayer runtime, the day director, health, agenda, presence, and contacts each decide what is true; the language-model persona — "Noora" — can call read-only tools (get_prayer_times, get_day, get_location, get_presence, find_contact, read_book, and a few more) to answer accurately, but it can never overrule an engine or fabricate a time. The connection is deliberately one-way: the model may ask a question, it may not silently change a setting. On the watch face, our hand-drawn "Celestia" dial renders a live Earthrise seen from the Moon with a moving day/night terminator, a flying tourbillon with a ruby, a real moon-phase, dauphine hands under a domed sapphire, and a mechanical day-date at three o'clock — all on a Canvas at device-pixel ratio.

Built to be trusted

The app carries roughly 1,327 automated tests, and it has been through an independent 14-agent adversarial bug audit (22 real bugs found, 21 fixed and shipped) and a 14-agent security review whose findings were fixed and shipped. NURA is built with Capacitor 6 and React 19 for iPhone.
