Noora: the optional AI, on your terms

NURA is a watch-first Muslim life companion by NuroNova Genix Co. (a Delaware company headquartered in Houston, Texas). Prayer times, Qibla, the full athan, and every daily tool work offline, with no account and no sign-in. Noora is the part you switch on if you want to. She is the optional AI companion who lives inside the watch and speaks in the language you speak to her.

What Noora is

Noora (نورا) is a warm, steady conversational companion whose single job is to help one person live their present day well. She is not a general chatbot bolted onto a clock. When she answers something factual about your life — a prayer time, your next appointment, where you are — she does not answer from a model's memory. She reads the watch's own engines and answers from what they actually know, so what she says and what the screen shows can never disagree.

Her behaviour is governed by a single, dense standing instruction the code calls the Noora core. It sets hard, non-negotiable gates: truth must hold, safety must hold, and hallucination, false certainty, unverified personal claims, and privacy violations are all pinned to zero. When she does not know, she is required to say so plainly — "I don't know," "I couldn't verify that" — rather than fill the gap with something confident and wrong. Spoken replies are kept short by design: one to four sentences, at most one question, and no lists, markdown, or emoji, because a watch answer is written for the ear.

What Noora is not

• Not a doctor. She can record a reading you tell her — blood sugar, blood pressure, sleep — but the health engine is an organiser. It classifies against published reference ranges and attaches its own not-medical-advice line; Noora never diagnoses, prescribes, or talks anyone out of seeking care.
• Not always on. If you never add a key, Noora simply isn't there — and the rest of NURA works exactly the same.
• Not controlling. The core forbids possessive, coercive, or dependency-forming language, and forbids her from claiming feelings, perceptions, memories, or access she does not actually have.
• Not a proxy. There is no NuroNova server in the middle. Nothing she says passes through us.

Bring your own key

Noora thinks with your model account, not ours. A key baked into a shipped app can be extracted by anyone who downloads it, so NURA never ships one. Instead you paste your own provider key in Settings, and it lives only in that one device's local storage — never logged, never echoed, and rendered on screen only as its last four characters so a screenshot can't leak it.

Three providers are supported, and you pick which one answers:

When Noora needs to think, the request goes straight from your phone to the provider you chose — a normal Bearer request to OpenAI or Together, and Anthropic's documented direct-browser call for Claude — under your own account. The key authenticates that request and goes nowhere else. If you pick a provider whose key you haven't filled in, she quietly borrows whichever key you did fill in, so she can still think as long as any one of the three is present. And the app refuses to misfile a credential: an sk-ant- key saved under OpenAI is rejected before it can ever be sent to the wrong company.

Proving the connection

Because your key never leaves your device, only your device can test it. Settings includes a one-tap connection test that asks the provider a single four-token question and reports exactly what came back — "Connected: Claude answered on claude-sonnet-5" — so you find a mistyped key immediately, not mid-conversation.

Her voice, also optional

If you add an ElevenLabs key and choose a voice, Noora can speak her replies aloud and listen for speech in the language you're using — again, your key, your account, on the same device-only terms. Without it, she still answers in text. She never speaks over an active phone call and never opens the microphone during one.

The honest summary

Noora is a companion you own the keys to. Your prayer settings, places, health entries, contacts, and any saved key are stored on your device, not on our servers — we don't run any for the core app. The AI is opt-in, bring-your-own-key, and speaks directly to the provider you chose. That is the whole architecture, stated precisely.
